The Adelphi campus is "a 5 minute walk" on nearby Peru Street. The young man from the hotel downstairs doesn't know Peru Street. There is no telephone in my room to call anyone at the university for directions, and, since I haven't been given a contact number, it probably doesn't matter anyway.
Yes, it's another day in the life of a Happy Gigster. None of the above is insuperable. The conditions serve the function of reminding me of my roots, the hard life of the working player, to remember & value what I have. That life could be this good all the time.
